Justin Jones Justin Jones is executive speechwriter to the CEO at the American Hospital Association. He has nearly 20 years of experience as a speechwriter and communicator in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, including service at the highest levels of the federal government. For 12 years Jones served as speechwriter and senior strategic communications adviser to U.S. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).  His words have been heard at the Republican National Convention, on the Senate floor and at countless Kentucky county fairs. He has extensive experience in state and local political campaigns. Jones previously worked as policy/communications director for a national advocacy organization and as a writer and editor in the comic book industry. Jones is a graduate of Harvard University and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Janelle Carter Brevard Janelle Carter Brevard is the vice president of communications for the Council on Foundations, a nearly 70-year-old nonprofit leadership association of grant-making foundations and corporations. She began her speechwriting career working for U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, and later spent three years as senior adviser and speechwriter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. After leaving the public sector, Janelle led executive and leadership communications at Hilton Worldwide and Delphi Automotive in Troy, Mich. Janelle has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Florida A&M University and a master's degree in political management from The George Washington University. In 2015, Janelle was selected as part of the inaugural class of the Presidential Leadership Scholars Program, a first-of-its-kind executive education-style partnership between the presidential centers of George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson.
Sarah Hurwitz Sarah Hurwitz was a White House speechwriter from 2009-2017, serving as a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama and then as chief speechwriter for first lady Michelle Obama. Sarah worked with Mrs. Obama to craft widely-acclaimed addresses, including her 2016 Democratic National Convention speech and her political speeches during the 2016 campaign cycle, and traveled with the first lady across America and to five continents. Sarah was previously a senior speechwriter on the Obama campaign; chief speechwriter for Hillary Clinton during her 2008 presidential campaign; deputy chief speechwriter on the presidential campaigns of General Wesley Clark and Senator John Kerry; and a speechwriter for Senator Tom Harkin. Prior to working on the Clinton and Obama campaigns, Sarah was an attorney at the Washington, D.C. office of WilmerHale. Sarah is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
